Topic: Advances and Controversies in Endodontics

Dr. Haas is a certified specialist in endodontics.  He is extensively and passionately involved in continuing education to dentists and has lectured and provided workshops internationally.  He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is on staff at the University of Toronto and the Hospital for Sick Children. He maintains a full-time practice limited to endodontics and microsurgery in Toronto.  He is a regular contributor to dental journals, websites and blogs.

Topic: Tongue Tied:  A Story NOT Silenced by Oral Cancer

Eva Grayzel, a nationally recognized Master Storyteller and performance artist, was diagnosed at age 33 with stage IV oral cancer and given a 15% chance of survival. After regaining her deep vibrant voice, Eva applied her stage skills to communicate the depth of her experience in a unique and powerful way. For over a decade, Eva has captivated dental professionals worldwide using her story as a catalyst for change. She performed ‘Tongue-Tied’ Off-Broadway in New York City to a sold-out audience. Speaking at hundreds of dental meetings planted the seed for her program to teach dental professionals and their teams how to grow their business through leveraging the power of story.  A champion of early detection, Eva founded the Six-Step Screening™ oral cancer awareness campaign, for which she was recognized by the American Academy of Oral Medicine. She is the author of ‘Mr. C Plays Hide & Seek’ and ‘Mr. C the Globetrotter’ as well as the creator of ‘My Story Legacy,’ an interactive format for documenting family stories, life values and wisdom.

J. William Robbins, D.D.S., M.A., maintains a full-time private practice and is Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School.  He graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School in l973 and completed a 2-year General Practice Residency at the V.A. Hospital in San Diego, California. Dr. Robbins has published over 80 articles, abstracts, and chapters on a wide range of dental subjects and has lectured in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Middle East and Africa.  He coauthored a textbook, Fundamentals of Operative Dentistry – A Contemporary Approach, published by Quintessence in its 4th edition.  He recently co-authored a new textbook, Global Diagnosis – A New Vision of Dental Diagnosis and Treatment Planning.  His awards include the Southwest Academy of Restorative Dentistry 2015 President’s Award and the 2016 Academy of Operative Dentistry Award of Excellence. He is a diplomat of the American Board of General Dentistry. He is past president of the American Board of General Dentistry, the Academy of Operative Dentistry, the Southwest Academy of Restorative Dentistry, and the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry.

Topic: New Aspects in Restorative Dentistry & Restorative Considerations in Geriatric Dentistry

Dr. Chuck Wakefield attended UCLA School of Dentistry and completed a two year AEGD Residency during his 21 year US Army career. He is Board Certified by the Federal Services and American Boards of General Dentistry and is a Fellow of the American and International Colleges of Dentistry. He has been the Director of AEGD programs at Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Hood, Texas and the Medical University of South Carolina. He holds the Surgeon General’s “A” designator and is an Adjunct Professor of Comprehensive Dentistry at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and was a tenured Professor and Director of the AEGD Residency Program at Baylor College of Dentistry, Dallas, Texas from 1995-2015. Currently, he is in private practice in Lewisville, Texas with his son, Brian Wakefield, DDS, FAGD.

Dr. David Little is renowned internationally for his extensive knowledge of predictable surgical and restorative implant techniques, and technology integration. His skills as lecturer, hands-on workshops facilitator, and presenter of live surgery implant seminars make him a highly-sought instructor worldwide. He has presented on all facets of dental implantology at major meetings across the United States, including the American Association of Implant Dentistry, American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Annual Scientific Session, Greater New York Dental Meeting, and Yankee Dental Congress. In addition to maintaining a state-of-the-art multi-disciplinary practice in San Antonio, Texas, and serving as clinical director of OsteoReady Implant Solutions, Dr. Little is an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

This presentation includes many identifiable ongoing and predicted changes in the profession that will influence dental practice, research, and patient care. Each of these changes requires observation by the respective groups influenced, plans for change, and implementation of the changes. Gordon J. Christensen, Founder of the Academy of LDS Dentists in 1977, is CEO of Practical Clinical Courses (PCC), and CEO of Clinicians Report Foundation (CR). He is a practicing prosthodontist in Provo, Utah. Gordon has presented over 45,000 hours of continuing education throughout the world and published many articles and books. Gordon and Dr. Rella Christensen are cofounders of the nonprofit Clinicians Report Foundation (previously CRA), which Rella directed for many years. Since 1976, they have conducted research in all areas of dentistry and published the findings to the profession in the well-known Clinicians Report. Gordon is a member of numerous professional organizations. Gordon and Rella’s sons are both dentists.

Between 1999 and 2002, Dr. Katz was out of work on disability and had virtually lost his practice to a series of life tragedies. Tapping into years of attending practice management courses, he embarked on establishing a clear vision of the practice he wanted to develop and implemented systems which enabled the team and Dr. Katz to build a multi-million dollar practice out of the ashes. He is a graduate of Columbia University and the WA University School of Dental Medicine. He is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow in the International College of Dentists. He has been the team Dentist for the New York Jets Football Team and a Dental Consultant for Fox News in New York. As the founding Partner of Smile Potential Dental Practice Coaching, Dr Katz enjoys sharing his secrets for success with dentists throughout the country through lecturing and one-on-one coaching. Derek is the Chief Operations Officer of CR Foundation, the education non-profit foundation founded by Dr. Gordon J. Christensen and Dr. Rella Christensen, formerly known as CRA. He has current responsibilities to oversee publication of the Gordon J. Christensen CLINICIANS REPORT, the Dental Hygiene CLINICIANS REPORT, Continuing Education, Professional Relations, Product Evaluation, and the CR Foundation’s operations. CR Foundation is the original and only independent dental product testing organization with funding only from dentists! Dental Product tests, comparisons, techniques and confirmed useful products are published in the monthly Gordon J. Christensen CLINICIANS REPORT which is circulated to 92 countries and is available on line at

Derek was born and reared in Utah and graduated Cum Laude from Utah State University. Following graduation, he was employed by Biotechnology Center at Utah State University, and later at Hyclone Laboratories now Thermo Fisher Scientific in their Research and Development Department. After 27 years with CR, Derek considers himself foremost a dental product researcher and educator.

Derek joined CR in 1990 with the main responsibility to oversee and manage long-term clinical studies of dental restorative materials. Currently, he contributes to dental research as a member of the International Association for Dental Research and has abstracts published on restorative resins, various inlay/onlay restorative materials, and single-unit crowns. Derek has co-authored papers on In-Office Tooth Bleaching Systems, and Dental Unit Water Quality. He presents dental continuing education programs for CR on various topics including “Cutting Edge Dental Products,” “Infection Control,” “Innovative and Helpful Products and Concepts for Dental Hygienists,” and has co-presented the Gordon J. Christensen “Dentistry Update” course with Dr. Gordon Christensen, Dr. Rella Christensen, Dr. Karl Koerner, Dr. David Clark, and Dr. Michael R. Dorociak. Derek has been featured by Dentistry Today as one of the “Leaders in Continuing Education” for the past 18 years. Over the past 19 years Derek has presented over 272 courses in 95 U.S. cities and 11 other countries. In addition to dental research and education, Derek’s hobbies include spending time with his wife and 5 children, church and community service, Boy Scout leadership, snow skiing, biking, and gardening.
